Recipe: Drunken Samoa’s

With warm weather knocking at our door, spending all day in the kitchen is not at the top of priorities. However, that doesn’t help with our sweet cravings! This recipe by nutritionist Katie Perkowska of Wholly Nutrition, is the perfect solution to avoid the kitchen and satisfy your sweet tooth.  Just 90 calories and 2g of sugar per cookie!

Makes: 24 cookies

Drunken Samoa Cookies

1 cup cooked white quinoa

½ cup brown rice crisps

½ cup all natural unsweetened nut butter

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

¼ cup coconut oil, melted

¼ cup pure maple syrup

¼ cup shredded unsweetened coconut

2-3 teaspoons whiskey (optional, omit for kids)

Himalayan Sea Salt to top (optional)


  1. Combine coconut oil, maple syrup, cocoa powder, and nut butter of your choice in a saucepan or bowl.
  2. Fold in quinoa, rice crisps, shredded coconut until well combined.
  3. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper, scoop tablespoon sized cookies onto sheet and freeze for 30 minutes. Keep leftovers in the freezer.
