Our Friends at The Manna Food Project

In the middle of getting ready to send out our February subscription boxes, it struck me how fortunate we are to be able to send out these delicious and unique products to other gluten free individuals around the country. For so many reasons, we realize that we are seven shades of lucky to have such a fun business, and to be able to connect with so many wonderful people from all walks of life, from all over the country.

We recognize just how lucky we are to get to do this for a living, and we certainly don’t take it for granted. With this in mind, part of our mission is to give back to the wonderful communities that have shaped us into the people we are, and to help those less fortunate than ourselves within these communities. That’s why we’re donating a portion of each box subscription to the Manna Food Project. Located in Harbor Springs, Michigan, Manna is a one of Michigan’s largest food banks, coordinating with 35 other non-profit agencies in three counties to help meet the needs of the underprivileged throughout Northern Michigan.

Of particular interest to Manna is the children of Northern Michigan who, on the weekends, would otherwise not receive regular meals when not at school. To combat child hunger, Manna distributes 1,600 backpacks loaded with nutritious foods to children across participating counties each week.

To be able to contribute to this amazing organization in some way is such an honor for everyone at American Gluten Free. We encourage you to see look into food pantries in your area, and see how you might be able to donate your money or your time to help those in your communities that could use a hand. We’ll continue to make donations from our proceeds to help out the best we can, as well as be as generous as possible with our time with Manna and other non-profits that work to making our communities better places for all.
