I am a huge fan of baked goods. To be clear, I am a fan of all of the baked goods. Muffins, scones, cookies – things that are delicious and inherently infused with gluten. When I decided to go gluten free, I thought the days of enjoying a chocolate chip cookie were over. Or, that the best case scenario would be the gluten free cookies would be as flat and lifeless as cardboard. But as I’ve tried various products, I’ve found that this couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, I’ve found that I prefer gluten free baked goods to gluten baked goods because I don’t feel terrible from the gluten after eating them. More importantly, and surprisingly, I actually prefer the taste of gluten free baked goods to gluten baked goods. Before going gluten free, I would have never thought in a million years that would be the case.
The key to finding quality gluten free baked goods is to do your research. And let me tell you, researching gluten free items is an absolute treat! One company that does gluten free baking extremely well is Third Coast Bakery, out of Suttons Bay, Michigan. If you want to sample gluten free baked goods that are better than their gluten brethren, you have to check these folks out. I met the owner of Third Coast, Heather Burson, at the Inspired Summit in Traverse City, MI. Heather has perfected the art of gluten free baking to a level that improves on what you’d expect cookies, muffins and other familiar baked goods to taste like. In addition to being gluten free, and delicious, her products are also available as dairy free, soy free and vegan. No matter your sensitivity, Third Coast has something to suit your diet and taste.
Heather was kind enough to allow me to sample the scones, muffins, bread and cookies that she had with her at the summit. Each item was absolutely wonderful – full of taste, wonderful texture and made with natural ingredients. Most importantly, they’re all gluten free! She has tens of different items to sample, so no matter what your sweet tooth is after, she has a treat for you to enjoy.
If you want to learn more about Third Coast, you can view their products and place an order by checking them out on their website. Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to learn about more gluten free products and companies we found out about at the Inspired Summit!
